Traditional seed starting trays have been manufactured from thin gauge vacuum formed plastic making them difficult to use and fragile so they are often damaged in the process of transferring seedlings. In response to this, Phase One Design worked with Burpee to develop a line of injection molded seed trays with elastomer bottom sections which flex for easy removal of the soil plugs. This makes the transfer process much easier and also makes it possible to use the same trays through multiple seasons. We also developed an optional injection molded dome which features an adjustable venting disc to control internal humidity levels.
