General Air Products manufactures a range of nitrogen generators which are used to fill commercial fire sprinkler systems with inert gas to minimize internal corrosion. Our design effort first focused on analyzing and rationalizing a broad range of models with the goal of developing a common build platform which could be populated with different component and tank configurations. As some of the new designs included a color touch screen, we developed a console configuration with a modular interface panel which could be configured for different versions of the unit. This pressure formed front console helped General Air create a new and distinctive brand image in a market that is characterized by utilitarian sheet metal boxes.
